The idea of certifying hemp products with the Golden Cannabis quality mark was born in 2020, when the Cannalabs by EkotechLAB laboratory was accredited by the Polish Center for Accreditation (PCA) No. AB1755 – a government organization responsible for laboratory control. It took over half a year to develop the certification program, contract, logos and a website dedicated to the project.
The main reason why Cannalabs by EkotechLAB decided that the idea of certification was extremely needed on the market was the frequency of questions asked by consumers about the authenticity of reports submitted by producers and distributors. To the surprise of the laboratory, it turned out that a large part of the issued test certificates are simply counterfeit in the world. The most common frauds are “increasing” the CBD content, eg from 5.5% to 10.5%, changing the names of samples, changing the name of the client or changing the date. Parts from the manufacturers only depend on “paper”, so they just copy the certificate of another manufacturer, inserting their data. This procedure was partially curbed by securing reports with a QR-code, but not all consumers are able to use the QR-code.
The second aspect was the very high frequency of consumers’ inquiries to indicate the manufacturer which the laboratory could recommend, because it tests almost everyone. As an accredited laboratory, Cannalabs cannot recommend or recommend anyone under the strict regulations in force regarding confidentiality and impartiality.
The solution to the above-mentioned issues turned out to be the certification for the Golden Cannabis quality mark
